I generally like Elizabeth Gilbert‘s writing and she is one author I‘ve actually seen in person. But this collection of short stories just didn‘t do it for me. 👎

Ann Patchett recommended Gilbert‘s debut collection on social media awhile back, and it didn‘t disappoint. Gilbert writes about people in transition whether a boy having his first relationship or a man coming out of prison. Short stories are a wonderful medium for capturing life‘s small moments, and she capitalizes on that.
All kinds of new growth in the garden!!
I found this while thrifting books and can‘t let an Elizabeth Gilbert book go unread. It was interesting to read a book published years before I even knew who she was, but there were 12 stories in this little book. Each was well written but none really had an end. I prefer stories, however short, to have a beginning, middle, and end.
Happy American Thanksgiving. I‘m grateful for this Litten family!
