#MarchMadness Day 27: This version of King of the Golden #River is not like the standard picturebooks with its fairly large pages and full-spread illustrations. It‘s a small book in comparison, pocket-size even, illustrated by Juan Wijngaard, born in Argentina of Dutch parents. Illustrator Wijngaard was recipient of the Mother Goose Award and the Kate Greenaway Medal. My review of the book: https://wp.me/pDlzr-6YY

#FallIntoReading Day 21: An #InYourMug moment when the King of the Golden River reappeared as main character‘s favourite golden mug was melted as part of their new trade. Since the act of melting the mug has essentially freed the King of the Golden River from an enchantment, he gave Gluck a very interesting quest. My review: https://wp.me/pDlzr-6YY

vkois88 That's an awesome mug. Reminds me of some of the tankards I see at vendor booths when we go to the Celtic Festival each year 5y

There is no wealth but life. Life, including all its powers of love, of joy, and of admiration. That country is the richest which nourishes the greatest numbers of noble and happy human beings; that man is richest, who, having perfected the functions of his own life to the utmost, has also the widest helpful influence, both personal, and by means of his possessions, over the lives of others.
