The second volume of The Poor Relation. When Lady Fortescue gathered a group of impoverished aristocrats like herself and transformed her Bond Streeet home into a posh hotel, The Poor Relation was born. But when it burns to the ground, the group turns to Miss Tonks, who must steal something valuable enough from her rich sister to set the poor relations on their feet.

These “Poor Relations” series books by M. C. Beaton are so funny! I love the characters. Miss Tonks is such a sweetheart and so inept at crime - it‘s adorable. I loved it! #100YEARS100BOOKS #94 #BookSpinBingo #4 #TAILSandTALESforADULTS #21 #BOOKED2021 (120 pgs) #SERIES2021

The second in the Poor Relations series, this is as gentle and cute as the first one so far. Probably my last read of the year.

2nd installment in the quirky good-feels Poor Relations series. Perfect for times when you don‘t have serious attention span or need a pick me up.

Maria514626 @tamra I could use this today. Thanks! It was a long week. I have a case of the “long stares into the distance.” 🙃 5y
Tamra @Maria514626 try this series! The first is 5y

I enjoyed how this novel progressed w/the character development & romance. Instead of Miss Tonks meeting the perfect someone, she learns a bit of confidence in herself while also caring for her niece. The romance is actually between spunky Cassandra, and likable Lord Eston. My one issue was that the plot seemed to JUST KEEP GOING. Each time I thought the book was over, I realized that they hadn't married yet. I still enjoyed it though.

I'm still walking @kaye but not posting about it. It was such a lovely morning this morning I stopped to take a photo of the city from Rucker's Hill. The doctored poster has been there for a while , but now the federal election has been called it seems an appropriate time to post it. Gotta love Northcote, I don't think Clive's candidate will get many votes in this electorate! The books were $3 each - how could I resist? #LitsyWalkers

Freespirit Bargain with the books! Can't believe Clive is still around..misery to think we've got five weeks of listening to politicians....lovely picture of the city😊 5y
Kaye Yes, I‘ve walked every day , too and haven‘t posted. Thank you for the tag and the photos. Interesting ! I‘ll try to find something to take a picture of today on my walk. 5y
LouiseWalters Urghhh five weeks of mindless electioneering. Unfortunately Clive makes sense in a Trump sort of way. Heaven forbid!!! 5y
MicheleinPhilly @LouiseWalters Only 5 weeks??? That seems heavenly!!! I wish the U.S. would take a hint but unfortunately there is BIG money in campaigning for 2 years. I hate it. 5y
LouiseWalters Totally different system - we vote for the party. The party chooses its leader. Has been a bit diabolical over the last 10 years or so - party‘s dumping leaders and selecting new ones based on perceived voter appeal. 5y

Almost done with this audiobook. Will finish it on my Monday morning drive to my writing group. A Regency era story; cute and comical. Miss Tonks is part owner of the Poor Relations Hotel in London. Since all five of the owners are down on their luck and they need money to keep the hotel afloat, Miss Tonks is chosen to steal something from her rich sister. What transpires is comical. A nice read.

PurpleyPumpkin I looked this one up on Overdrive and there‘s a whole series of them! Thanks for the recommendation. 👍🏽 6y
MaGoose Yes, I figured out that there was a series after I listened to this one. I think I liked this one well enough that I will eventually read or listen to at least one more in the series. May be awhile before I get back to it, though. 6y

I forgot that I am also #currentlyreading this. Or rather, listening. Davina Porter is a delightful narrator for Beaton‘s Regency romances. She does great voices! They‘re such great brain relaxers 😊! And available on Hoopla, which makes me even happier!!

I‘m loving this series by M.C. Beaton. Sweet and funny with great characters. The audio books are narrated by Davina Porter, one of my favorite narrators (she did the Outlander audio books as well). So entertaining!
