Okay, admittedly I am pretty oblivious on my subway rides due to either reading or Litsy, but how long has this been going on?! I looked at subwayreads.org and they have lots of great stuff, especially girl power, immigrant stories, and New York stories! They have selections from several books on my wishlist. How cool! 💕.

Also, after looking around my subway car, there are 4 individual posters and a giant banner across the top. 😂

CoffeeCatsBooks I‘ve read the Sadie excerpt, which was grabs your attention quickly. Now, I‘m reading The Water Will Come (Climate Change) but I‘ll have to finish it on my commute back. 6y
blithebuoyant This is so cool! 6y
tournevis It's an idea taken from the Paris subway, and a host of other subway systems all over have started doing it too, or have done it for a time, a summer, as a pilot thing. In Paris, you have a machine and print a story specifically for the length of time you'll be riding. 6y

Just a heads up for any fellow transit nerds...today is the 112th anniversary of the opening of the first NYC subway line. Happy birthday to my favorite public transit system in the world (shhhh, don't tell Moscow's subway system that I said that). You are so messy and crazy and cobbled together in the most unlikely manner from a bunch of competing subway systems, and yet somehow that makes you all the more beautiful in my eyes. 💕

Merethebookgal It definitely puts the DC Metro to shame! 😂 7y
Oftencantdecide Were some of these pictures taken at the NYC transit museum? Because that place is awesome 7y
Gezemice Great pics! 7y

GlitteryOtters @Merethebookgal while I do like the DC metro well enough (I am impressed by all of the escalators & sometimes wish NYC had as many!), I do have to agree, it is no patch on the NYC subway 😂😂 7y
GlitteryOtters @Oftencantdecide yes! Two of them were taken there, and another was taken in July on a vintage train excursion with the museum to Coney Island, and a fourth pic was taken in the old abandoned City Hall station when I took a transit museum tour of that station. The others were taken at 1) Union Square Station & 2) a stop along the J line (forget which one at the moment). All are from the past year. I take way too many subway pics when I visit NYC😂 7y
GlitteryOtters @Gezemice thank you! I really love the NYC subway (and its history). I spend way to much time taking subway related pics each time I am in town! 😂 7y
