Sunday Sketching
Sunday Sketching | Christoph Niemann
5 posts | 3 read | 1 to read
From award-winning artist and author Christoph Niemann comes a collection of witty illustrations and whimsical views on working creatively. Taking its cue from his New York Times column Abstract Sunday, this book covers Niemann's entire career and showcases brilliant observations of contemporary life through sketches, travel journals, and popular newspaper features. The narrative guides readers through Christoph's creative process, how he built his career, and how he overcomes the internal and external obstacles that creative people face--all presented with disarming wit and intellect. Enhanced with nearly 350 original images, this book is a tremendous inspirational and aspirational resource.

Freespirit That's an eclectic room!😊 5y
Lcsmcat Love the globe! 5y
goodbyefrancie @Freespirit It is a bit random. It's my home library, and I tend to just find things to add as I run across them. My favorite room in the house, it's like my own little cave! 5y
goodbyefrancie @Lcsmcat I love it, too. It was an estate sale find. 5y

Pickpick

A LOT of fun and all too easy to devour too quickly.

Mehso-so

Borrowed from the library. I certainly wouldn't pay full price for this large book consisting mostly of illustrations by the author, whose work is often in The New Yorker. He shares thoughts, also. It was fun to look through this, though.

Book haul from the library in addition to Behind Her Eyes, which I had placed on hold (see last post). Top three are borrowed, bottom three are purchases from their used book shelf. Look Again is definitely #becauseofLitsy, I saw it there (library) after @CouronneDhiver and @ptkpepe98 posted/commented on it less than 24 hours ago! But wait...there's more from today's book haul 🙈...!

Andrew65 Like Lisa Scottoline books. (edited) 7y
ValerieAndBooks @Andrew65 it will be my first read by her...she's a local author to the area (I've been here a few years), and knew I'd have to try her eventually! I do enjoy her Sunday paper columns. 7y
CouronneDhiver Aw, that's really sweet of you to mention! 😊 I do hope that you enjoy it. My review will, most likely, be up later today. 7y

Betty Three of these books focus on the eyes 👀See 👁Look through the Camera 👁 7y
ValerieAndBooks @Betty that's true -- good eye, haha. I love art, so those two on top appealed to me. Didn't realize Look Again also has a related title 😊 7y
ValerieAndBooks Oh and @Betty I just realized that the book that was part of the library haul, not pictured here, is titled Behind Her Eyes! So that's actually four! So funny. 7y
Betty @ValerieAndBooks funny! Would be good for one of those "what do these things have in common?" puzzles 7y
