Cooking the Books: A Corinna Chapman Mystery | Kerry Greenwood
6 posts | 8 read | 4 to read
Corinna Chapman, talented baker and reluctant investigator, is trying very hard to do nothing at all on her holidays. Her gorgeous Daniel is only intermittently at her side (hes roaming the streets tracking down a multi-thousand dollar corporate theft). Jason, her baking offsider, has gone off to learn how to surf. And Kylie and Goss are fulfilling their lives ambition auditioning for a soapie. It should be a time of quiet reflection for Corinna but quiet reflection doesnt seem to suit her shes bored. Scenting a whiff of danger, Corinna accepts an offer from a caterer friend to do the baking for the film set of a new soap called Kiss the Bride. The soapie in which Kylie and Goss have parts. Twists and turns and complications that could only happen to Corinna ensue involving, bizarrely, nursery rhymes and a tiger called Tabitha. While on the other side of town, a young woman is being unmercifully bullied by her corporate employers employers who spend a lot of time cooking the books. The 6th in the Corinna Chapman series.

Pickpick

Book 6 in the Corinna Chapman series is another pick. This time, Corinna gets roped into working for an old friend who is catering for a soap opera. It was fun but I miss the usual setting of Corinna‘s bakery and the people of Insula. Only one book left before I‘m caught up with the series. I really hope she writes book 8 soon! 4⭐️

This book was fun but I thought the ending was ludicrous. I did reach my #AnyWayYouReadathon goal of finishing this book and making a dent in Rose Madder for #LosersClub #LosersClub2021. so thx to @kimmypete1 @Eggbeater @MidnightBookGirl
and this book helped me check some boxes for #Booked2021 - set in Australia and baked good on cover - @cinfhen @4thhouseontheleft @BarbaratheBibliophage

kimmypete1 Always disappointing when the ending is not good. Thanks for joining! 3y
bthegood @kimmypete1 yes, it was a fun read but I did expect more from the ending - thx for hosting 3y

So I read this entire series in less than two weeks. This was comfort reading at its best. I am a big fan of Corinna and her lovely Bakery and all the inhabitants of Insula. I really really hope Ms. Greenwood intends on writing more in this series.

This morning's train book was the last (so far at least) of the Corinna Chapman mysteries.

I await whatever Kerry Greenwood writes next impatiently!

Something a bit lighter required after listening to The Natural Way of Things. This will do nicely. #travelreads #travellistens

Joanne1 I've done heavy book after heavy book. Need a lighter diversion for the next one. 8y
