I picked this up to have a short, quick read for #bannedbooksweek. Reading it, I have no idea why it was ever banned or challenged, unless it‘s because it‘s so bad.

(I'm posting here because I coun't find the 4th book)
This book continues the story and plot really well connecting the last book and maybe the next book. In this book we get to see a lot more of phony bone and near the middle and end we get to see the leaf bug again. This books basic info(small spoilers) is we learn more about thorn being a princess, the protectors of the great red dragon, a war starts, and many new things happen in the village.

Bought this for my youngest for his upcoming birthday. I'm pretty sure he will love it, but he might not be able to lift it. 🤣 Maybe I should have gone for individual volumes instead. Over 1300 pages makes for a hefty book.

xicanti This is the edition I have, and I find it easiest to read resting open on a table! 5y
Leniverse @xicanti I think that is an alien notion to my kid. His normal reading positions won't be possible with this book though, so he'll have to adapt! 5y

Was suggested to read this my a friend because of the art style. Absolutely loved that bit so much. The only issue is the story couldn‘t hold my attention. The bone cousins get kicked out of Bonesville and are separated during a locust storm. This first volume is how they find themselves in a different culture and have to figure out how to find each and reunite. There were some witty comments which I liked but it was only OK for me.

dragondrool I tried, but couldn't get into this. There are kids at school that can't get enough of Bone, though. I keep thinking I'm missing something.

Schnoebs @dragondrool me too! I don‘t understand the major love for it 5y

Cute first story in this fantasy saga. Not sure about the bone characters but very here for the dragon and Grandma Ben.

candority I used to love this series! My best friend in elementary school would get the newest one from the Scholastic Book Order. She always let me take it home the day she got it, because she knew I would be done reading it the next morning! I vividly remembering reading them at a local restaurant while waiting for the food to come. I want to go back and re-read them just for nostalgia 😊 6y

Another #classroomread, this one plucked from the library shelves when I forgot to bring a new book from home. I LOVED it, tons of fun, engaging, appropriate for all ages! I'll be digging up the rest of the series, and recommending it as a good read for my students

The story line is great, the characters are lovable, and the humor is so well done. This series is also family friendly and appropriate for all ages. This is definitely a series that I can see myself sharing with my son when he's a little older. I remember reading this as a younger teen and loving it. As a young adult, I still love it, and some of this humor made more sense now.

How have I not read Bone before now!? I've only just finished the first volume, but I can tell it's an excellent series. The character designs of the Bones are simple and reminiscent of older comic strip characters, while the designs for other characters and the world around them shows a complexity revealing how out of their elements the Bones are. Full of action, comedy, and a mythic setting, Bone is a delight for readers of any age. #comics

Great story in a fantasyland with the Bones being unique creatures comparable to Tolkien's Hobbits. It's full of humor but at its base an epic that has a well thought out mythology involving dragons. It often impressed upon me a sense of hopelessness(perhaps not what you'd expect from the Looney Tune-esque "Bones" displayed on the cover), but the darker moments were balanced with likable characters and humor.

Loved so much about this series: the art, the characters, the story, the humor. A quest fantasy like you've never read before. Also a great entry into graphic novels/comics. I may need a reread! I miss the Bone cousins #recommendsday @Liberty

A fantastic, fun comic adventure! Many have described this as a quintessential MG graphic series, and I would have to agree! The Bone cousins are hilarious, brave, and caring! Makes for a great read!
